The Structure

Department of Fishermen welfare and Fisheries Development jointly started its working as a unit of Agriculture Department since the separate establishment of Madhya Pradesh state on 1st November 1956. In 1964, since independently beginning of the Department of Fishermen welfare and Fisheries Development, the department is constantly working for the development of people related to fishing and fisheries business in the State.

Department of Fishermen welfare and Fisheries Development, is responsible for the development and conservation of fisheries in the State, for which, efforts of the department are continuously ongoing through available resources.

The Department is under control of Principal Secretary, Fishermen welfare and Fisheries Development Department, Govt. of M.P. and M.P. Fisheries Federation (Co), Bhopal is also working under the Department.

Office of the Departmental Head for the Department of fishermen welfare and fisheries development is working at Directorate of Fisheries, Ground floor, Vindhyachal Bhawan, Bhopal and Joint Director Fisheries and Deputy Director Fisheries level offices are being operated at Division Level

Office of Assistant Director Fisheries, are being operated in every District of the State, in addition some state level Unit's offices are also operated.

  1. Deputy Director Fisheries, Fish seed Form, Paundi Maihar, District – Satna
  2. Research Officer, Fish seed farm, Patra district Bhopal
  3. Aquarium Officer, Opp. Rajbhawan, Bhopal
  4. Deputy Director, fisheries, Training Institutes Naogaon District – Chhatarpur
  5. Under the protection of fish fisheries, testing and promotion.

Objectives

  1. Development of all rivers, ponds and reservoirs for fishing.
  2. Setup and management of fish seed territories.
  3. Conservation, Testing and cultivation of fishes under Fish culture.
  4. Research for cultivation, expansion and development of fishes.
  5. Development and regulation of fishing methods.
  6. Marketing and tapping of fishes.
  7. Conservation, Testing and cultivation of other edible aquatic creature.
  8. All other matters relating to such services, which are concerned with the Department.
